The Lyric Orchestra
A company dedicated to bringing exceptional music to South Florida. Our internationally renowned, 49-member orchestra marvels audiences with its exquisite and inviting sound. The singers of The Lyric Orchestra touch the hearts of their audiences by bringing to life timeless, operatic works of art. The artists are led by Maestro Franco Bertacci who is able to bring these brilliant performers together to create memorable musical experiences for all music lovers to enjoy.
Our vision in The Lyric Orchestra is to revisit the vocal techniques of the ‘Golden Age of Singing.’Under Maestro Bertacci, our musicians study a technique and form that at one time was standard, and has since faded away. We believe that if operas are studied and performed in the way that honors the composer’s musical intentions, audiences will not only appreciate and embrace the work, but also demand that all of their musical experiences be at such a standard. It was not too long ago that this was the case. Conductors, singers and orchestras around the globe were all adhering to the techniques and standards of musical study, interpretation, and performance that were set forth by the original opera greats. Singers such as Enrico Caruso, Rosa Ponselle, Franco Corelli and Maria Callas; conductors such as Tulio Serafin and Arturo Toscanini were filling audience’s hearts with the true passion of the art form. They were legends in their own time, and their legacies have easily extended into the present day.
The artists in The Lyric Orchestra study not only the same techniques, but learn from the same lineage of teachers and coaches that trained the greats of decades past. The Lyric Orchestra will refresh the expectations of loyal audiences and entice new audiences by training their ears to the sounds of a different time. We reach audiences and musicians not only through standard performance but also by educating them through master classes, lectures, interactive performance, and young artist mentoring. Such programs give young musicians and music lovers a chance to grow in their appreciation and understanding of the art form and hopefully go on to perform and teach to others our practices.
We believe that the expression of the exquisite and timeless music of the great opera composers is the highest honor a musician can achieve and it is an honor we do not take for granted.
