Alan Mason
Alan Mason is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music where he received the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, and the University of Miami, where he received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Dr. Mason is Associate Professor of Music at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
Alan made his Lincoln Center debut in 1983 and his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1986. He played with the New World Symphony between 1991 and 1996, touring nationally and recording with the symphony. Additionally, he has played at the Rome Festival (Rome, Italy), Varna Conductor’s Workshop (Varna, Bulgaria) and the Limmud Conference (Nottingham, England). On December 10, 2007, Alan was the pianist for President George W. Bush’s Hanukah ceremony and party at the White House.
Alan has been the Director of Music at Temple Israel of Greater Miami since 1991. Extensively active in the field of Jewish music, Alan has played at Southeast Regional and National Biennial Conferences of the Union for Reform Judaism in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Minnesota, and California. He has accompanied Jewish music recitals in synagogues and temples across the United States, and since 2001, has been staff accompanist at the North American Jewish Choral Music Festival. Alan plays regularly for the American Conference of Cantors, and is the Vie President for Education for the Guild of Temple Musicians.
