Liana Pailodze

Liana Pailodze is a versatile pianist who performs both Contemporary and Classical styles of music. She has performed as a solo artist since the age of 8, and has participated in chamber music settings from the age of 11. As a soloist, she been featured with the Shilakadze Chamber Orchestra, the Georgian Television Orchestra, the Georgian Symphonic Orchestra, and in 2007 she performed Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments with Frost Wind Ensemble. In addition to her solo activities she has performed as an ensemble member of all of the above-mentioned, culminating in a performance with the Frost Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall.

Liana is currently pursuing her DMA at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, under the instruction of J.B. Floyd. She also received her Master's and Bachelor's degrees there, graduating cum laude, and subsequently was inducted into the National Scholars Honor Society in 2008. As a student she has received multiple scholarships and awards, including the Bertha Foster Scholarship Award, the Lillian Brown Scholarship award, the Sigma Alpha Iota Scholarship Award. In conjunction with her studies, she instructs both class piano and private lessons at the University of Miami.

Born in Tblisi, Republic of Georgia, Liana first studied piano at the Paliashvili Music Conservatory. She had a wide range of interests at a young age, resulting in a Diploma in Chemical Analysis at the Tblisi Aviation Machine Building School in 1998. She grew up in a unique musical setting. Her father is a prominent jazz drummer, and her mother, a computer engineer, was her first piano teacher. The strong presence of music in Georgian culture continues to have a strong effect on her musical identity.
