Federico Bonacossa

Federico Bonacossa completed his Masters degree in Guitar Performance under the instruction of Julian Gray at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and recently his Doctoral music degree in Guitar Performance on a full scholarship as well as teaching assistantship at the University of Miami.. He also holds a diploma from the Conservatorio Statale Pierluigi da Palestrina in Cagliari, Italy where he studied with Maestro Luigi Mazzullo.

He has studied privately with Kennesaw State Professor and GFA winner, Mary Akerman.

In 2000, he played at the EMMAS World Music Festival where he gave a recital of music by Leo Brouwer.

In 2001, he performed as a soloist with the “International Orchestra of Sardinia” during the first international competition for composers in Q.S. Elena, Italy. Also in 2001, he performed the Vivaldi Guitar concertos in several Sardinian cities under the direction of conductor-composer Giampiero Cartocci.

He has also performed in masterclasses with Manuel Barrueco, Antigoni Goni, Denis Azabagic, Bruce Holzman, Judicael Perroy, Jason Vieaux and David Russell.

In 2003 and 2005, he was invited to perform concerts in his hometown of Olbia, Italy where he was welcomed by an enthusiastic audience. In 2005, he was selected to perform at the Miami International Guitar Festival.

Past performances include many chamber music concerts featuring his duo with flutist Tony Watson and his voice and guitar duo with his wife Carol.

He also has studied composition with Judah Adashi and Lansing McLoskey.
