VADIM GLUZMAN, GUEST VIOLIN SOLOIST AT BOCA RATON SYMPHONIA’S DECEMBER 7, 2008 CONCERT

The Boca Raton Symphonia will kick-off their 2008-2009 season with the first of five Edith and Martin B. Stein Connoisseur Concert Series concerts on December 7, 2008. The theme for this year’s season is “Inspired by Tchaikovsky” which celebrates the many facets of Tchaikovsky’s genius with five wonderfully different concerts that include music that Tchaikovsky inspired, music that inspired him and two of Tchaikovsky’s own pieces. The first of these concerts, Concertos Revealed, is generously sponsored by City of Boca Raton and Wachovia Wealth Management and will include pieces by Mozart, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky. The Concertos Revealed program: MOZART Symphony No. 38 in D major, K.504, “Prague”; STRAVINSKY Concerto for Chamber Orchestra in E-flat major, “Dumbarton Oaks”; TCHAIKOVSKY Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35.
The orchestra will be lead by the Boca Symphonia’s Principal Conductor, Alexander Platt whose work with the orchestra has been hailed as the making of “the finest ensemble to emerge out of the demise of the Florida Philharmonic.”
This performance will feature guest Violin Soloist, Vadim Gluzman, lauded by both critics and audiences as a performer of great depth, virtuosity, and technical brilliance. Vadim Gluzman performs on the exceptional Antonio Stradivari violin `ex-Leopold Auer´ on loan to him from the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
In addition, the Boca Symphonia will continue the popular Lunch N’ Learn program, open to all Symphonia patrons and their guests. It offers the very special opportunity to meet the conductor and the soloists who will be performing in the series. The Boca Raton Symphonia has partnered with Boca Raton Resort & Club to provide an exclusive dining experience in this beloved Boca Raton landmark resort.
